Govt mulls 'all-out' lockdown from April 14

The government is thinking about enforcing another one-week lockdown with stricter rules from April 14 as the coronavirus infections in the country continue to rise alarmingly. 

Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader came up with the disclosure in a briefing at his official residence in the capital on Friday.

He said, "The government is actively considering about imposing an all-out lockdown for one week from April 14."

A seven-day countrywide lockdown from April 5 to 11 is underway announced on April 4 with a view to preventing the spread of the novel coronavirus. 

Bangladesh on Wednesday (April 7) reported 7,626 coronavirus cases, the highest infections in a day so far, with it recorded highest 74 deaths from the virus on the following day.

As of Thursday, the country's total deaths and infections stood at 9,521 and 6,66,132 respectively.
