Badda lynching: Court starts trial against 13

A court in Dhaka on Thursday started trial against 13 people in a case filed over the lynching of Taslima Begum Renu on suspicion of child-lifting at Badda in the capital.

The accused are: Ibrahim alias Ridoy Molla, Riya Begum Moyna, Abul Kalam Azad, Kamal Hossain, Md Shahin, Bachchu Mia, Md Bappi, Murad Mia, Sohel Rana, Asadul Islam, Bellal Molla, Md Raju and Mohin Uddin.

The Sixth Dhaka Additional Sessions’ Judge Court's Judge Fatema Imroz framed charges against the accused, and fixed July 24 to take testimonies in the case.

An angry mob beaten Taslima Begum Renu to death in North Badda suspecting her a child-lifter on July 20, 2019.

Following the incident, victim's nephew Nasir Uddin lodged case against 400-500 unidentified people with Badda Police Station in this connection.

Investigation officer and DB police's inspector Abdul Haque pressed charge-sheet against them before Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Court on September 10, 2020.
