'Those who spoil harmony to be resisted'
Mentioning that Bangladesh is a non-communal country, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal on Thursday warned of resistance against those who spoil communal harmony.
"Those who spoil communal harmony in the country, they would be resisted at any cost," he said while in responding to a query from the journalists after a programme at Tejgaon in the capital.
The Minister said police lodged a case over the incident of attacking the houses of Hindu minority people in Shalla upazila of Sunamganj district.
"Following the attacks on Hindus' houses in Shalla of Sunamganj, local police waited whether the victims file any case but none did so. Then, police being plaintiff lodged a case in this connection," he said.
The government will give assistance to those who were affected by the incident, the minister said, adding, "Those who instigated the event would be brought to book."
Saying that some people try to hurt religious sentiment or any spirit through Facebook post, Asaduzzaman Khan urged all to think correctly before making such comments in the social media platforms.
About the government's steps in this regard, he said the experts have been appointed for adopting newer laws, and taking monitoring measures.
The houses of Hindu minority community in Noagaon in Shalla upazila of Sunamganj were attacked and looted allegedly by the supporters of Hefazat-e-Islam on Wednesday following a Hindu youth in a Facebook post had allegedly criticized the speech of the party leader Mamunul Haque.
