3 die after fire breaks out at DMCH COVID ICU

Three patients died after a fire broke out at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) dedicated for COVID-19 patients on the third floor of Dhaka Medical College Hospital’s (DMCH) new building on Wednesday morning.

Identities of the deceased could not be known immediately. 

The patients died while they were shifting to other room from the ICU. All of them didn’t die due to the fire, said Brig. Gen. Nazmul Haque, Director of DMCH.

On information, a team of fire service rushed to the spot and recovered two patients alive.   

In this connection, Ziaur Rahman, Control Room Operator of Fire Service and Civil Defense, the fire originated from the air conditioner of the ICU.
