Six get life for raping schoolgirl

A court in Rajbari on Tuesday awarded life term imprisonment to six people for raping a schoolgirl in Sadar upazila of Rajbari district in 2019.

The lifers are Al Amin Fakir, Mostafa Fakir (fugitive), Akash Sarker, Fazlur Rahman, Md Sujan, and Md Babu Bapari alias Commander.

The district Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal judge Sharmin Nigar delivered the verdict.

The judge also fined them Tk 50000 each, in default, they will have to serve six more months in jail.

Khan Mohammad Zahurul Haque, assistant public prosecutor (APP) of Rajbari Judge Court, confirmed the matter.

The case statement said lifer Sujan had an affair with the victim. On January 28, 2019 he took her to an abandoned mess, and he along with his friends gang raped her there.

Later, the victim filed a case with Sadar Police Station in this connection. In the lawsuit, Sujan has been made prime accused.
