Shopping malls, markets to remain shut on March 17

The shopping malls and markets across the country will remain closed on March 17 on the occasion of birth centenary of the father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Bangladesh Shop Owners Association took the decision on Sunday, its president Md Helal Uddin told Jago News.

"As part of showing respect to Bangabandhu, we have decided that all shopping malls and markets across the country will stay shut on March 17 but hotels, pharmacies and shops of daily commodities will remain out of the purview of the closure order," he said. 

The architect of the nation, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, was born on March 17, 1920 in Tungipara upazila of Gopalganj district.
