Student torture: HC asks what steps taken against teacher
The High Court has wanted to know within March 14 what steps have been taken against the teacher who beat an eight-year-old student up at a madrasa in Hathazari of Chattogram.
A two-member bench led by Justice Nazmul Ahsan issued an order on Thursday.
Abdullah Al Mahmud Bashar, Deputy Attorney General, confirmed the matter to Jago News.
On Monday, Yasin, a student of Markazul Quran Islami Academy Madrasa, was mercilessly beaten by a teacher named Yahya. Later, a video of the incident went viral on social media.
In the video, the teacher is seen repeatedly hitting the boy, throwing him around the room as he screams and cries for help.
According to sources, the child was beaten for running after his mother outside of the madrasa premises.
Later, police arrested the teacher from Safarbhata area in Rangunia upazila on Wednesday afternoon.
