President Abdul Hamid receives coronavirus vaccine

President M Abdul Hamid has received his first dose of the coronavirus vaccine.

He took the vaccine at Bangabhaban around 5pm on Wednesday, Md Joynal Abedin, press secretary of the state head, told this media. 

His wife Rashida Khanam also got the vaccine, Joynal added.

Earlier on March 4, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina received her first dose of the vaccine.

Bangladesh on January 27 began coronavirus vaccination programme, and launched the same nationwide on February 7.

The country, however, recorded 5,53,105 coronavirus cases and 8,496 deaths from the virus till today since it first reported COVID-19 cases on March 8, 2020.
