Erfan Selim acquitted in drug case

A Dhaka court has acquitted Erfan Selim, son of Dhaka 7 MP Haji Selim, in a drug case.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Shahinur Rahman issued an order relieving Erfan of the charges on Monday after receiving the final report by the police.

On 28 October, last year, Delwar Hossain, inspector (operation), of Chwakbazar Police Station filed two cases against Erfan Selim and his bodyguard Zahid for possessing illegal firearms and drugs.

The police officer submitted the final report on two cases of arms and drugs against Erfan on Jan 5. Police recommended Erfan’s acquittal in the report.

On Oct 24, 2020, Lt Md Wasif Ahmed Khan, a naval officer, accused Erfan and his associates of assaulting him in a case filed with the Dhanmondi police.

RAB subsequently raided Irfan’s home in his father’s nine-storey residential building in Soarighat’s Devdas Lane. They seized a pistol, an airgun, bottles of liquor, 37 walkie-talkies and a handcuff during the raid.
