Housewife found dead in sugar cane field

Police recovered the body of a housewife from a sugar cane field in Jibannagar upazila of Chuadanga district on Wednesday evening.

Deceased Tarzina Khatun, 25, was the wife of Abdus Salam of Singnagar village in the upazila.

Uthli Union Parishad chairman Abul Kalam Azad said a few farmers spotted the housewife's naked dead body in a sugar field in Komarpara area of Uthli village this evening and informed police.

Later, the law enforcers went to the spot and retrieved the body, Azad said.

The village resident Md Imrul Hasan Raju said Singnagar villagers Abdus Salam and Tarzina Khatun, by profession agriculture labourers, went out on Monday afternoon but did not return home.

The whereabouts of missing Salam could not be known yet, Raju added.

Jibannagar Police Station officer in-charge (investigation) Ferdous Wahid said they primarily assume Salam hacked Tarzina to death for money. Police began a drive to nab him, the OC also said.
