Bus-truck collision kills 5 in Sirajganj
Five people were killed and fourteen others injured in a head-on collision between a bus and a truck in Sirajganj on Tuesday morning.
Three of the deceased were identified as freedom fighter Fazlur Rahman, 70, son of Mokchhed Ali of Shahjahanpur upazila in Bagura, Bimol, 45, son of Dheeren Chandra of Sherpur upazila and Abdul Hannan, 60, son of Abul Hossen of Belkuchi upazila.
The incident took place on Bangabandhu Bridge West Link highway at Konabari area in Kamarkhand upazila of the district around 8am.
In this connection, Mosaddek Hossen, officer-in-charge of Bangabandhu Bridge West Police Station, a speeding North Bengal-bound truck collided head-on with a Mymensingh-bound standing bus in the area and the bus fell into the roadside ditch.
On information, members of police and fire service rushed to the spot and recovered bodies of four people from the spot and sent the fifteen injured people to Sirajganj 250-bed Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib General Hospital where on-duty doctor declared one of them dead.
