Fatal road crash kills 10 in Jhenaidah

Ten people were killed and at least 35 injured as a bus and a truck collided head-on in Kaliganj upazila of Jhenaidah district on Wednesday afternoon.

Identities of the deceased could not be known immediately.

Mamunur Rashid, station officer of Kaliganj Fire Service and Civil Defense, said the fatal crash took place in Barobazar area around 3:30pm.

The witnesses said a bus of 'J K Paribahan' overturned in front of Amzad Ali Filling Station as its driver tried to save a passenger standing on the road.

At the same time, a speedy truck coming from opposite direction hit hard the bus, leaving 10 people dead on the spot and at least 35 injured.

The injured were admitted to Kaliganj Upazila Health Complex and in the hospitals situated in Jashore district.
