Coronavirus vaccination begins in 5 hospitals in Dhaka

The pilot coronavirus vaccination programme was started in five hospitals in the capital at 9am on Thursday.

The hospitals are: Dhaka Medical College Hospital, Kurmitola General Hospital, Mugda General Hospital, Kuwait Bangladesh Friendship Government Hospital and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University.

A total of 560 health workers will receive vaccines from the hospitals. 

Doctor Kanak Kanti Barua, vice chancellor of BSMMU has received first vaccine at the hospital.  

Earlier on Wednesday, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the vaccination programme from her official residence Ganabhaban virtually.  

Bangladesh currently has 70 lakh doses of the vaccine Covishield in stock.
