MC College gang rape: Hostel superintendents, guards had negligence of duty

Hostel superintendents and guards had negligence of duty in the incident of gang rape of a young woman by confining her husband in the dormitory at MC College, Sylhet. 

Alongside, principal of the college Professor Saleh Ahmed also cannot avoid liability of the occurrence as head of the institution.

The judicial probe body formed over the incident made these opinions in recommendation part of its report.

After reviewing testimonies, examinations and overall statements, the investigation committee opined that current superintendents, day and night guards of the main gate, day and night guards of block no. 7 of the hostel had negligence of duty during the gang rape happened on September 25, according to the report.

The four-member probe body also made 15-phase recommendations, including ensuring seat in hostel on basis of regular students' demand, and banning living of the non-students or former ones, the report also said.

However, the High Court bench of Justice Md Mojibur Rahman Mia and Justice Md Kamrul Hossain Molla is likely to hear the gang rape case on January 28. 

In the evening of September 25, 2020, six leaders of MC College Chhatra League allegedly gang raped a houswife, 25, in a hostel of the institution confining her husband inside a private car that subsequently triggered huge protests across the country.
