Covid-19 in Bangladesh: New deaths 14, cases 515

Fuorteen more people died from coronavirus in Bangladesh in the past 24 hours, taking the death toll to 8,055.

During the period, 515 more people were diagnosed with the virus, raising the total infection to 5,32,916, the Directorate General of Health Services said in a press release on Tuesday.

Of the total patients, 4,77,426 recovered, with 447 made recovery in the last 24 hours.

The daily count came from test of 14,401 samples in the past day. With this, a total of 35,84,788 samples have, so far, been tested.  

Bangladesh first reported its COVID-19 cases on March 8. Since then the country has been struggling to limit spread of the highly contagious virus.

Coronavirus first emerged in the Chinese city of Wuhan in December last year, and then spread to newer countries and territories.

Till date, the epidemic infected 100,346,160 people and killed 2,151,539 across the globe, according to Worldometer, a website which compiles number of new coronavirus cases and deaths from it.

However, total number of people who recovered from the coronavirus pandemic reached 72,397,260 across the world.
