UGC increases research allocation by 75 per cent

University Grants Commission (UGC) has increased budgetary allocation for research work of public universities by 75 per cent with an allocation of Tk 28.37 crore, said a UGC release on Tuesday.

The Commission has allocated the amount for research work in 34 public universities in 2016-17 fiscal while the budgetary allocation by the UGC for research work of 32 public universities in 2015-16 fiscals was Taka 16.24 crore.

UGC has increased the allocation for research due to government’s priority in this sector which will increase the scope of research activities by the university teachers and researchers as well.
