Two killed in clash over land dispute

Two people were killed and five others injured in a clash over land dispute in Santhia upazila of Pabna district on Saturday morning.

The deceased were identified as Md Munnaf, 40, son of Md Surot, resident of Nariagodai village, and Md Nasir, 35, son of Shamsul, of Kashiapur village in the upazila.

Police and local said two brothers - Sachchu and Bachchu - of the locality had long been at loggerheads over a piece of land. Recently Sachchu sold 2 decimal of the disputed land to Munnaf. 

The men of Sachchu obstructed Munnaf when he began construction works of an establishment in the land this morning. At one stage, both groups clashed, leaving land owner Munnaf and worker Nasir dead on the spot and at least five others hurt.

Among the injured, Rowshan Ali, 42, was first taken to Santhia Upazila Health Complex and later he was admitted at Pabna General Hospital as he was in critical condition. 

However, the bodies were sent to Pabna General Hospital morgue.

Mohammad Mohibul Islam Khan, superintendent of Pabna Police, visited the spot.
