20 injured in pitched battle

At least 20 people were injured in a clash between police and garment workers at Noljani area, Gazipur on Wednesday noon.

Police said the clash had ensued between labourers and police personnel after garment workers started protest in the area, demanded their hundred percent bonus for the upcoming EID, at one stage of their protest, they put barricade on Dhaka- Joydebpur road.

Hearing the news, police rushed to the spot and tried to bring the situation under control.

As soon as police reached there, discontented workers attacked police and a clash ensued between them, leaving 20 people injured.

Of them, bullet injured labourers – Rashida, Sabina and Najma– were admitted to Shaheed Tajuddin Medical College hospital then they shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital as their condition deteriorated.
