1 killed in Sarail ‘gunfight’ with cops

A person was killed in an alleged gunfight with police behind the Rosulpur graveyard of Kalikachcha union of the Sarail upazila in Brahmanbaria in the wee hours of Tuesday.

The deceased is Abdus Sattar, 32, son of late Abdul Mannan of Refugee Para of the upazila.

Police claimed that, Sattar was the member of inter-districts dacoit gang. He was accused in several cases with Sarail Police Station.

In this gunfight, three police members including Sub Inspector Rakib were injured and admitted to local hospital.

Confirming the matter, Officer-in-charge of Sarail Police Station Rupok Kumar Saha told Jagonews24.com that, police arrested Sattar from Refugee Para and along with conducted a drive to recover the arms behind the Rasulpur graveyard.

Sensing the presence of the police, Sattar associates opened fire on them. In replying, police also fired shot and Sattar was killed on the spot.

A pipe gun, one round bullet and six homemade arms have been recovered from their possession.
