New COVID-19 strain found in Bangladesh, says BCSIR
Bangladesh has found existence of the new coronavirus strain similar to that of the United Kingdom.
Bangladesh Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (BCSIR) today confirmed the matter.
BCSIR said that genome sequencing was carried on five different samples of coronavirus, where mutations in the virus were found similar to that discovered in the UK.
“We observed that one new strain was almost similar to the one found in the United Kingdom, though it was not 100 percent same. We will start working on it again,” said Dr Selim Khan, principle scientific officer of the BCSIR.
