Bagha Jatin's sculpture vandalizm: Jubo League leader held

Police have arrested three people, including a local Jubo League leader, over the vandalizm of the sculpture of Bagha Jatin, a revolutionary leader of the anti-British movement.

The arrested people are Anisur Rahman Anis, 35, president of Kaya Union Jubo League in Kumarkhali upazila of Kushtia, and his two associates- Sabuj Hossain, 20, and Ridoy Ahmed, 20.

They were arrested from different places of Kushtia district on Friday night, superintendent of the district police Tanveer Arafat confirmed in a press conference on Saturday afternoon.

At the press conference at his office, Tanveer informed another person named Bachchu, 32, involved in the incident is on the run. Drive is on to nab him, he added.

Jubo League Anisur had a personal conflict with Kaya College governing body and its principal. As a sequel to, the vandalizm happened, police were primarily confirmed, the official said.

Some unidentified miscreants damaged the sculpture of Jatindranath Mukherjee, locally known as Bagha Jatin, installed at Kaya College just after midnight on Friday.
