Sreebordi Mayor sent to jail

The High Court on Monday sent Abu Syed, 35, Mayor of Sreebordi Municipality of Sherpur district to jail in a case filed for violating election code of conduct and subversive activities during union parishad election.

Senior Judicial Magistrate Sarkar Hasan Shariar passed the order when Syed surrendered before the court and appealed for bail in the noon.  

Earlier, Syed violated election code of conduct by using vehicles during union parishad election on May 31.

Syed carried out an attack on upazila nirbahi offier Habiba Sharmin as he halted him for using vehicles.

Later, on April 16 Habiba Sharmin filed a case against Syed and 40 others in this connection.
