2 held with fake currency notes in Jessore
Police in a drive arrested two people in possession of 148 fake currency notes amounting to Tk 1,18,500 from Jessore town on Sunday night.
The arrestees were identified as Raju Ahmed, a resident of Gatipara village in Sharsha upazila of Jessore, and Latif Hossain, a resident of Kalia upazila of Narail district.
Amir Hossain, sub-inspector of Jessore Kotwali Police Station, said tipped off, a team of police conducted a drive at Eden Market and arrested Raju at about 9:30pm.
Later, 59 forged notes of Tk 500 denomination were recovered after searching his body, reports a news agency.
Based on Raju’s information, police conducted another drive in Bejpara of Jessore town and arrested Latif along with 89 forged notes of Tk 1,000 denomination at about 10:30pm.
A case was filed in this connection.
