ACC grills PWD additional chief engineer
The Public Works Department's additional chief engineer was grilled by the ACC for around two hours on Wednesday as part of probe into the allegation of amassing wealth, and possessing 200 plots illegally by 'Golden Monir'.
Led by the Anti-Corruption Commission's deputy director Samsul Alam, its assistant director Mamun Chowdhury questioned the PWD official, Pradeep Kumar Basu.
Confirming the matter, Shamsul Alam said, "Additional chief engineer of public works deparment attended here this morning. He has been quizzed for around two hours."
"Some more necessary documents have been sought to him after questioning. He will come to ACC again with the these," he added.
The PWD official has been interrogated as part of ACC's ongoing investigation into the allegation against 'Golden Monir', Shamsul also said.
Earlier on November 20, the law enforcers arrested businessman Monir Hossain, locally known as Golden Monir, from his residence in the capital's Badda area on charges of possessing illicit firearms and drugs.
Later, firearm, foreign currencies, golds, cash money were recovered from his possession. His five luxurious cars with no valid documents were also seized.
The law enforcers had said Monir in collusion with some dishonest officials of RAJUK became owner of more than 200 plots in DIT Project, Badda, Nikunja, Uttara and Keraniganj areas.
