Bus-autorickshaw collision kills 8
Eight people including three members of a family were killed and ten others injured in a head-on collision between a bus of BRTC and a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in Habiganj on Monday afternoon.
The incident took place near Shah Mushkil Ahsan mazar area at Fultoli bazar under Gajnaipur union in Nabiganj upazila around 4:45pm.
Seven of the deceased were identified as Samirun Begum, 28, wife of Abu Taher of Muraura village of the upazila, her daughter Maria Akter, 2, Halima Begum, 25, wife of Anu Miah, Antar Miah, 22, son of Nurul Islam, of Sataihal village, Kitab Ali, 30, Liton Miah, 18.
Confirming the matter to Jago News, Ershadul Haque Bhuiyan, officer-in-charge of Sherpur Highway Police Station, said a Sylhet-bound bus of BRTC collided head-on with the auto-rickshaw in the area and later the two vehicles fell into the roadside ditch. Eight people died on the spot and ten others were also injured.
