Six of a family among 7 killed in fatal road crash

Seven people, including six members of a family, were killed as a bus rammed into a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in Manikganj district on Friday afternoon.

The deceased were identified as Harekrishna, from Tangail, 55, his mother Khushi Bala, 70, son Gobinda, 30, daughter-in-law Bobita, 25, cousin (paternal) Ramprasad, 55, granddaughter Radhe, 3, and auto-rickshaw driver Jamal, 35.

Daulatpur Police Station officer in-charge Rezaul Karim confirmed the incident.

Tania Sultana, additional police superintendent of Shivalaya Circle, said a bus hit a CNG-run auto-rickshaw coming from opposite direction in Mulkandi area on the Ghior-Daulatpur road around 2:30pm, leaving the passengers and the driver of the latter vehicle seriously injured.

They were rushed to Manikganj Sadar Hospital where the on-duty doctors declared them dead one after another, Tania said.  

They all met their tragic end when Harekrishna was taking his granddaughter Radhe to a hospital in Manikganj for treatment.
