Nine killed in C’nawabganj road mishap

Nine people were killed and three others injured as a human-hauler plunged into a roadside ditch in Shibganj upazila of Chapainawabganj district early Thursday.

The deceased were identified as Babu, Tajemul Haque, Mithun, Md Karim, Milu, Abul Kashem, Ataur Rahman, Ahad Ali of Baliyadighi village and trolly driver Masud Rana of Sonapur village in the upazila.

Shibganj Police Station officer in-charge Farid Hossain said a paddy-laden human-hauler overturned and plunged into a roadside ditch in Sonapur-Barikbazar area around 4:30am, leaving seven dead on the spot and five injured. 

Among the injured, two more succumbed to their injuries at hospital, Farid said, adding that except driver, all the deceased were agriculture farmers.
