Coronavirus: 39 more die in 24 hours

The death toll from coronavirus has reached 6,254 as 39 more people died from the disease in the last 24 hours. 

Besides, 2,212 more tested positive for the virus, raising the number of such cases to 436,684. 

In the last 24 hours, 15,990 samples were examined and out of them 2,212 got positive results for the virus. Apart from, 1,749 more recovered from the virus, taking the total recoveries to 352,895, Directorate General of Health Services said in a press release on Tuesday. 

Bangladesh reported its first three cases of COVID-19 on March 8. 

The new coronavirus pandemic first emerged in the Chinese city of Wuhan in December last year. The World Health Organisation declared the coronavirus crisis a pandemic on March 11.

The deadly virus spread to 213 countries and territories, killing some 1,333,682 people globally, according to Worldometer, a website which compiles number of new coronavirus cases and deaths from it.

As many as 55,423,861 people worldwide caught the virus. Among them, 38,558,010 people recovered from the virus, the website said.
