Abhijit’s killer killed in gunfight: cop

A killer of blogger Abhijit Roy have been killed in a gunfight with detective branch of police at Banchpotti area of Meradia in the capital’s Khilgaon in the early hours of Sunday.

Deputy Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police Mashrukur Rahman confirmed the matter to the reporters. 

He said, the deceased name is Sharif. He was the primary accused in Abhijit murder case.

Further details regarding this matter will be disclosed in a press conference at noon, he added. 

However, police announced Tk 5 lakh bounty on him earlier when they found evidence of his presence at the crime scene at TSC in Dhaka University where Avijit was hacked to death on February 26 last year.

His direct involvement was found in a number of killings including blogger Avijit and Niladri Niloy.
