Bangladesh signs tripartite agreement for coronavirus vaccine

Bangladesh has signed a tripartite agreement with the Serum Institute of India and Beximco Pharmaceuticals Ltd, a pharmaceutical company in Bangladesh, for coronavirus vaccine developed by Oxford.

After signing the agreement, Health Minister Zahid Maleque disclosed the information during a press briefing held at the Health Ministry’s conference room on Thursday. 

“The doses will be given to one and half crore coronavirus infected people in the country,” said the minister.

In the initial six months of the first phase, Serum will supply three crore doses of the vaccine - 50 lakh per month - to Bangladesh at a price similar to what India will get at, the minister added. 

Indian High Commissioner Vikram Kumar Doraiswami, lawmaker Nazmul Hasan, Health Secretary Abdul Mannan, Health Education and Family Welfare Division Secretary Md Ali Noor and Health Directorate Director General Prfoessor Dr Abul Basar Mohammad Khurshid Alam were present among others during this time.
