Attack on navy officer: Case filed against Hazi Selim’s son
A case has been filed against Irfan Selim, son of lawmaker Hazi Selim and councilor of ward 30 of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and three others over an attack on a navy officer and giving a death threat to him.
Confirming the matter to Jago News, Ikram Ali Miah, officer-in-charge of Dhanmondi Police Station, said the case was registered early today.
The other accused are Mohammad Jahid, bodyguard of Irfan, AB Siddiq Dipu, protocol officer of Hazi Selim’s Madina group and car driver Mizanur Rahman.
According to witnesses, the car first hit the motorcycle of Navy officer lieutenant Wasif Ahmed Khan near Kalabagan crossing in Dhanmondi area. He was returning home with his wife after purchasing books. At that time, some men got down from the car, attacked on him.
Later, they escaped the scene leaving the car behind as people started to gather around.
However, Sazzadur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Ramna zone) and Abdullah Hil Kafi, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dhanmondi zone) visited the spot in today’s morning.
