194 militants arrested on day 7

Police arrested 194 militants till Friday after starting the anti-militancy drive on June 10 following the killing of police superintendent’s wife Mahmuda Khanom Mitu on June 5.

Confirming the matter, Public Relations officer of police headquarters AKM Kamrul Ahsan said anti-militancy drive ended on Saturday.

In the drive, 151 members of Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh, 7 of JMJB, 21 of Hijbut Tahreer, 6 of Ansarullah Bangla Team, 3 of Ansar Al Islam, 4 of Allah’r Dal, 1 of Harkatul Jihad and 1 Afgun returns militant have been arrested, he said.

Police headquarters also claimed that they arrested 17 militants in 24 hours.

The militants were held from Dhaka, Chittagong, Naogaon, Satkhira, Rangpur, Gaibandha, Panchagarh.

Police also recovered a pipe gun, a shutter gun, one round bullet, two cocktails, two machetes and 14 jihadi books from their possession.
