Coronavirus: 31 die, 1472 infected, 1531 recover in 24 hours
The death toll from coronavirus has reached 5,555 as 31 more people died from the disease in the last 24 hours.
Besides, 1,472 more tested positive for the virus, raising the number of such cases to 379, 738.
Directorate General of Health Services said in a press release on Monday.
In the last 24 hours, 13,227 samples were examined and out of them 1,472 got positive results for the virus. Apart from, 1,531more recovered from the virus, taking the total recoveries to 294,391, the press release added.
Bangladesh reported its first three cases of COVID-19 on March 8.
The new coronavirus pandemic first emerged in the Chinese city of Wuhan in December last year. The World Health Organisation declared the coronavirus crisis a pandemic on March 11.
The deadly virus spread to 213 countries and territories, killing some 1,081,810 people globally, according to Worldometer, a website which compiles number of new coronavirus cases and deaths from it.
As many as 37,784,129 people worldwide caught the virus. Among them, 28,372,930 people recovered from the virus, the website said.
