Coronavirus in Bangladesh: New cases 1278

Bangladesh recorded 1,278 cases of the novel coronavirus in the past 24 hours, bringing the total to 3,75,870.

Of the total patient, 2,89,912 recovered, with 1,556 made recovery during the period. 

The daily count came from test of 11,506 samples in the last 24 hours. As of Friday, the number of total sample test stood at 20,50,669. 

The country today reported 17 more deaths from the deadly virus, taking the tally to 5,477.

Bangladesh first reported its COVID-19 cases on March 8. Since then the country has been struggling to limit spread of the highly contagious virus.

Coronavirus first emerged in the Chinese city of Wuhan in December last year, and then spread to newer countries and territories.

As of Friday, the epidemic infected 36,797,540 people and killed 1,067,530 across the globe, according to Worldometer, a website which compiles number of new coronavirus cases and deaths from it.

However, total number of people who recovered from the coronavirus pandemic reached 27,694,342 across the world.
