Saudi visa extended for Bangladeshi expats
Saudi Arabia has extended visa and Iqama (valid work permit) for Bangladeshi migrant workers until October 30.
Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen confirmed this on Wednesday.
The decision came amid struggle of the expatriates to return to the Middle East country.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, thousands of Bangladeshi expatriate workers got stuck here and visa validity of many of them ended on September 30.
Earlier on September 23, State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam said Saudi Arabia extended Iqama for Bangladeshi workers for 24 days.
In a facebook post, he wrote that in request of Bangladesh government, Saudi government has taken the decisions bellow-
- Iama period has been extended until last day of Arabic month Safar (Twenty four days from today).
- Bangladesh Biman has been permitted to operate four flights each week to Riyadh and Jeddah.
- Visa office of Saudi Arabia Embassy in Dhaka will remain open from Sunday where consular services would be provided following new guidelines on COVID-19.
