Bangladesh sees 30 more coronavirus deaths
The deaths related to the novel coronavirus stood at 5,405 in Bangladesh on Tuesday, with 30 more fatalities in the past 24 hours.
During the period, 1,499 people newly caught the deadly virus, taking the country's tally to 3,71,631, the Directorate General of Health Services said in a press release.
The press statement said 12,345 samples were tested in the past day. With this, the number of total sample tests reached 20,13,776.
However, 1,651 more COVID-19 patients made recovery, bringing the total recovery to 2,84,833.
Bangladesh first reported its COVID-19 cases on March 8. Since then the country has been struggling to limit spread of the highly contagious virus.
Coronavirus first emerged in the Chinese city of Wuhan in December last year, and then spread to newer countries and territories.
As of Tuesday, the epidemic infected 35,736,102 people and killed 1,046,546 across the globe, according to Worldometer, a website which compiles number of new coronavirus cases and deaths from it.
However, total number of people who recovered from the coronavirus pandemic reached 26,894,740 across the world.
