Coronavirus: Bangladesh reports 32 more deaths
The deaths related to the novel coronavirus stood at 5,193 in Bangladesh on Monday, with 32 more fatalities in the past 24 hours.
During the period, 1,407 people newly caught the deadly virus, taking the country's tally to 3,60,555, the Directorate General of Health Services said in a press release.
The press statement said 11,922 samples were tested in the past day. With this, the number of total sample tests reached 19,21,382.
However, 1,582 more COVID-19 patients made recovery, bringing the total recovery to 2,72,073.
Bangladesh first reported its COVID-19 cases on March 8. Since then the country has been struggling to limit spread of the highly contagious virus.
Coronavirus first emerged in the Chinese city of Wuhan in December last year, and then spread to newer countries and territories.
As of Monday, the epidemic infected 33,332,871 people and killed 1,002,748 across the globe, according to Worldometer, a website which compiles number of new coronavirus cases and deaths from it.
However, total number of people who recovered from the coronavirus pandemic reached 24,651,424 across the world.
