Attorney General Mahbubey Alam dies

Attorney General Mahbubey Alam has died while undergoing treatment at Combined Military Hospital (CMH), Dhaka. He aged 71. 

He breathed his last at around 7:25pm on Sunday, his son Sumon Mahbub confirmed this in a facebook post.  

President M Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina have expressed their deep shock and sorrow at the death of Mahbubey Alam.

Mahbubey Alam was put into Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at CMH on September 18 after his physical condition deteriorated.

Earlier on September 4, he got admitted to the hospital with coronavirus positive and various old age complications.

The Supreme Court senior lawyer joined law profession in 1975.

He was additional attorney general from November 15, 1998 to October 4, 2001.

The country's 13th attorney general left behind his wife, a son and a daugher as well as well wishers to mourn.
