Human trafficking: Dancer Ivan put on 7-day remand

A Dhaka court has placed Ivan Shahriar Sohag, a national award-winning choreographer and dancer, on a 7-day remand in a human trafficking case.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Begum Yesmin passed the order on Monday.
On September 11, Criminal Investigation Department of police arrested Evan from Niketon area in Dhaka for his alleged involvement in sex trafficking in Dubai of United Arab Emirates.
CID officials earlier arrested ringleader Azam Khan and two other members of a human trafficking racket that forced young women into prostitution in Dubai after trafficking them as tourists.
Azam gave some information about his cohorts during interrogation after his arrest in July. Ivan’s name also came up during the confession, said CID officials.
