Jasod killed 20 lakh people: Kazi Firoz
Narrating his bitter experience of Jasod-sponsored Ganobahini’s activities after the country’s independence, Jatiya Party MP Kazi Firoz Rashid on Tuesday said this force killed 20 lakh people.
‘The Prime Minister is all absorber, she can absorb even poison... Jasod is now in Parliament, it seems to me in the future she (PM) might bring those engaged in secret killings now to Parliament,’ he said.
The Jatiya Party MP said this standing in the House on point of order.
‘Had they not killed Awami League leaders and activists at that time the country might not have lost the national leader like Bangabandhu. The nation has been suffering from that till now.’
Firoz Rashid alleged that Bangladesh Television does not properly televise the role of the opposition Jatiya Party in Parliament while broadcasting JS sessions live.
‘Honorable Speaker, it (BTV) shows only you and the ruling party...the reason is the Information Minister is from Jasod. We were in Chhatra League, we had fought together in the Liberation War...suddenly getting up from the bed he (Inu) raised arms against us.’
The former Chhatra League leader said had they (Jasod) not done that at that time, the country might not have lost Bangabandhu. ‘We’re suffering because of them (Jasod).’
Referring to Public Administration Minister and AL general secretary Syed Ashraful Islam’s Monday’s speech, Firoz said that the AL general secretary said the right thing.
Firoz held Hasanul Huq Inu for the discrimination in TV news broadcast.
When Jasod MP Mainuddin Khan Badal sought floor, the deputy speaker, who was presiding over the session, did not allow him. ‘Our decision was not to entertain any point of order during the budget discussion. You uttered some sensitive words in the name of TV news broadcast, and I`ll expunge those,’ said the Deputy Speaker.
