Attack on UNO: Prime accused put on 7-day remand

A Dinajpur court has granted a seven-day remand for Asadul Islam, the prime accused of the case filed over the attack on Ghoraghat Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Wahida Khanam and his father Omar Ali.

Dinajpur Senior Judicial Magistrate (Amli court-7) Maniruzzaman Sarker passed the order on Sunday after Imam Zafar, investigating officer of the case, produced him before the court with ten-day remand prayer.

Earlier on Saturday, the Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) handed over Asadul Islam to the Detective Branch of police. Asadul was undergoing treatment at Rangpur Medical College Hospital days after his arrest.

UNO Wahida and her father suffered serious injuries in an attack by miscreants at her home on the Upazila Parishad premises on Thursday.

Later, her elder brother Sheikh Farid Uddin filed a case against 4-5 unknown persons with Ghoraghat Police Station over the incident.

Wahida is now undergoing treatment at the National Institute of Neurosciences & Hospital in Dhaka.
