CR Dutta’s body reaches home, cremation Tuesday
The body of Chitta Ranjan Dutta, Bir Uttam, widely known as CR Dutta, commander of sector number four during the Liberation War, reached Dhaka on Monday morning from the USA where he passed away on August 25.
A flight of Emirates brought the body from Florida. His body will be kept at the morgue of the Combined Military Hospital in Dhaka, Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Oikya Parishad said in the press release.
On Tuesday morning, his body will be taken to his residence on Banani DOHS road number 2.
Later, his coffin will be taken to Dhakeshwari National Temple premises for two hours to allow the people of all strata to pay their last tributes to the celebrated son of the soil. State honor will be given to him on the occasion.
His body will be taken to Rajarbagh Baredshwari crematorium at around 11am. As part of military honor, gun salutes will be accorded to him before his cremation there.
In the wake of the coronavirus outbreak, it will not be possible to take the body of 1971 Liberation War hero to the Central Shaheed Minar and his village home in Habigaj district, said the General Secretary of the council Advocate Rana Dasgupta.
CR Dutta, Bir Uttam, passed away at a Florida hospital in the USA at around 9 am (Bangladesh time) on August 25 (Tuesday) at the age of 93.
