Police detains 2000 BNP men: Rizvi
Echoing that government is trying to curb Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) through the weeklong anti-militant combing operation Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Senior Joint Secretary General of BNP on Monday said Police has arrested 2000 leaders and activists of BNP on last Friday.
‘Police arrested 7000 people including 2000 BNP men in past few days in the name of anti-militant combing operation,’ he came up with these remarks in a press conference at BNP’s centre office in Naya Palton at noon.
He alleged that government could not able to arrest a single listed militant yet.
In the wake of recent secret and targeted killings, police launched a weeklong countrywide anti-militant combing operation on Friday morning.
Earlier, 2,132 people, including 48 suspected militants, were arrested from several districts and the capital in 24 hours from 6am Saturday to 6am Sunday.
