Bangladesh coronavirus deaths cross 4000
The deaths related to the novel coronavirus reached 4,028 in Bangladesh on Tuesday as the country recorded 45 more fatalities from the virus in the past 24 hours.
During the period, 2,545 people newly caught the deadly virus, taking the country's tally to 2,99,628, the Directorate General of Health Services said in a press release.
The press statement said 14,788 samples were tested in the past day. With this, the number of total sample tests stood at 14,70,191.
However, 3,881 more COVID-19 patients made recovery, bringing the total recovery to 1,86,756.
Bangladesh first reported its COVID-19 cases on March 8. Since then the country has been struggling to limit spread of the highly contagious virus.
Coronavirus first emerged in the Chinese city of Wuhan in December last year, and then spread to newer countries and territories.
As of Tuesday, the epidemic infected 23,834,249 people and killed 817,474 across the globe, according to Worldometer, a website which compiles number of new coronavirus cases and deaths from it.
However, total number of people who recovered from the coronavirus pandemic reached 16,377,700 across the world.
