1 held over Pabna monastery attendant killing

Police arrested a local leader of Islami Chhatra Shibir for his suspected involvement in the killing of Nittyaranjan Pandey, an attendant of a Hindu monastery, from Pabna Sadar upazila on Saturday night.

Tipped off, a team of police arrested Ariful Islam, 23, secretary of Literature and Cultural Affairs of district unit Islami Chhatra Shibir and son of Abdus Sattar of Charghoshpur village, from Bajitpur village around 10 pm, said Munshi Abu Kuddus, inspector of Sadar Police Station.

As the arrestee sustained injuries in his leg he was admitted to Pabna General Hospital.

Earlier Nittyaranjan Pandey, an attendant of Sree Sree Thakur Anukulchandra Ashram (asylum), of Panba hacked to death by miscreants in Hemayetpur upazila on June 10.

A case was filed in this connection.
