Driver, who ran over mountaineer Reshma with microbus, held

Police on Tuesday seized the microbus that ran over mountaineer Reshma Begum Ratna, and arrested its driver from capital Dhaka's Ibrahimpur area.

Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station officer in-charge Jan-e-Alam Munshi confirmed to Jago News.

Earlier on August 7, a microbus ran over Reshma on Lake Road near Chandrima Uddyan in city, leaving her dead.

An English daily added Reshma was a school teacher. She started her journey of mountaineering by climbing the peak of Keokradong hill in Bangladesh in 2016.

In 2019, Reshma successfully summited two mountains named Stok Kanri (6153 meter) on August 24 and Kang Yatse -2 (6250 meter) on August 30 in Ladakh, India where she carried the national flag of Bangladesh and Logo of Modhumoti Bank.

She also participated in the expedition to Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa, and Mount Kenya, the second-highest of the continent in 2018.
