HC bench officer dismissed for irregularities, violation of discipline
The Supreme Court has dismissed a bench officer of its High Court Division on charge of irregularities and violation of discipline.
Signed by SC spokesman and HC division special officer Mohammad Saifur Rahman, an order was issued in this regard on Sunday.
The HC bench officer, Morshedul Hasan Sohel, was removed after completion of investigation in a divisional case filed against him in 2018 on charge of infringing discipline.
Jatrabari Police Station officer in-charge Mazharul Islam said a drug peddler named Mondal was detained along with 100 pieces of Yaba pills from Jatrabari area on August 6.
In questioning, Mondal inormed police that he bought the drug from the HC bench officer, Sohel, known as 'Madak Samrat' in Mirpur area, he said.
On the same day, police detained Sohel and a woman from his flat at Jhilpar of Mirpur's Pirerbagh. Around 700 pieces of Yaba tablets were also recovered from their possession, the OC added.
Police came to know that Sohel involved himself in the drug dealing a few years ago, and last year he was held along with Yaba by police. Later, he got released.
