ICT cancels bail of Sunamganj Razakar for violating conditions
The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-1 today canceled bail of an alleged Razakar from Sunamganj for violating conditions of his bail, reports BSS.
Justice Md Shahinur Islam, chairman of the three-member panel of the ICT-1, passed the order accepting a plea of the prosecution and sent the accused to jail.
Jobayer Monir, an alleged Razakar leader from village Doulatpur under Shalla upazila of Sunamganj was granted bail by the first tribunal in February 2020 on health ground on seven conditions, including staying in Dhaka.
But the alleged war criminal went to his native village to celebrate Eid-ul Azha and even went on a boat journey along with his family and cadres, creating a sense of panic among the witnesses in the case. After that, the prosecution filed the plea to cancel his bail.
The investigation agency of the ICT on June 17, 2019, filed formal charges in the case against 11 including Jobayer Monir. Of those 11, six are now behind bars.
