Microbus kills mountaineer Reshma
Mountaineer Reshma Begum Ratna lost her life in a road near Chandrima Uddyan in Dhaka on Friday morning.
KM Shahidul Islam, DMP assistant commissioner (Mohammadpur zone), confirmed the matter to Jago News.
Being informed by witnesses, traffic police members took a seriously injured woman to Shaheed Sohrawardy Medical College Hospital where the on-duty doctors declared her dead, he said.
"Later, we came to know through social media that her name is Reshma Ratna. She was a primary school teacher and mountaineer," Shahidul said.
An English daily added Reshma was a school teacher. She started her journey of mountaineering by climbing the peak of Keokradong hill in Bangladesh in 2016.
In 2019, Reshma successfully summited two mountains named Stok Kanri (6153 meter) on August 24 and Kang Yatse -2 (6250 meter) on August 30 in Ladakh, India where she carried the national flag of Bangladesh and Logo of Modhumoti Bank.
She also participated in the expedition to Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa, and Mount Kenya, the second-highest of the continent in 2018.
