A Dhaka court has placed Regent Group Chairman Sahed Karim alias Md Sahed on a 28-day remand and its Managing Director Masud Parvez on a 21-day remand in four cases filed with different police stations.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Rajesh Chowdhury passed the order on Sunday.

The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) produced Sahed and Masud before the court with a 40-day remand prayer in the four cases.

RAB brought the duo to the court after completion of their 10-day remand in a case filed against them.

Earlier on July 16, Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Jasim placed Sahed on a 10-day remand, Masud on a 10-day and Tariqul Islam alias Tareque Shibli, close associate of Sahed, on a 7-day remand.

RAB arrested Sahed from Satkhira on July 15 while he was trying to leave the country through border. Masud was arrested from Gazipur on July 14.

On July 6, RAB conducted separate drives at the Uttara and Mirpur branches of Regent Hospital and arrested eight people for issuing fake Covid-19 test certificates and collecting money from COVID-19 patients.

On July 7, RAB filed a case against 17 people, including Sahed in this regard.
